Elliot Hyams is Director and Sustainability Lead at SPS Pouches, a UK supplier of flexible packaging solutions for brands across a range of sectors.
He sits on the British Plastics Federation’s Technical and Sustainability Committees and works with businesses that are trying to make better packaging decisions as sustainability requirements become more complex.
His work covers material choice, recyclability, barrier requirements, pouch formats, print options, minimum order quantities and packaging performance. At SPS Pouches, he has led work on recyclable mono-material pouch structures, including a recent study with RECOUP that tested how different pouch constructions sort in real MRF infrastructure.
On the Recycling Infrastructure, Waste Systems & Local Authority Alignment panel, he will focus on the practical challenges of flexible packaging recyclability, including how packaging design, regulation, consumer behaviour and recycling economics need to work together if the system is going to deliver better environmental outcomes.
